   Neil asked about the 2501 cooling. George will prod Dave.

Frontline Support Issues

• Stephen noted that there were 54 machines with FC6 profiles, of which 15 had updated in the last month. Of those, a couple were for testing, and two or three were in use by the ITO.
• Alison asked that if anyone were going up to KB in the next week or so could they please upgrade the server room desktop machines.

  2. Forum server room racks
     • inf-unit will display a copy of the wiring guidelines in the server room
     • Unit heads will raise any issues with or sign off the guidelines by Friday.
  3. Informatics root certificate

     Please let Toby know of any real-life issues which arise as a result of the certificate signing, to help us prioritise the work involved in changing from RSA-MD5.

  • It would be useful to have tools available in all the server rooms (though how to keep them there is another issue...). inf-unit will arrange.
  • The default LDAP logging level seems to be a bit high, and appears to be slowing things down. Toby will circulate instructions for how to change it, and think about whether it makes sense to do so globally.

     This was discussed at some length. It was felt best to pursue the issues through the Forum Users' Group, so as to coordinate with other affected parties.

  2. Move to Staffmail

     The final copy of mail folders has now taken place. The whole process had resulted in some loss of mail service for visitors who don't get local delivery of mail, and they've been given another couple of weeks of Inf mail. After that, all mail for real users will be delivered either via IS or remotely.

  3. Fall out from cosigning of www.inf

     The question was raised of whether nvu is recommended by IS.

• Stephen reminded everyone of the LCFG Users' Day on Friday 28th. Please sign up via myed if you're interested, so that food can be arranged.
• staffmail:
  1. It was noted that staffmail only delivers one copy of a message, even though the recipient may be listed under several addresses. Whether this is a good or bad thing is open to question!
  2. How do visitors get given staffmail mail delivery? The admin staff should do this by setting appropriate options when setting the users up.
  3. It appears that having two simultaneous connections to staffmail from the same application (sometimes?) doesn't work. This has proved to be a problem when trying to reconcile mail for users with two current UUNs.
  4. It would be useful to know who is going to be dropped from staffmail in advance of it happening. Alison and Tim will discuss whether this can be done through the IDMS feed in some way.
