Actions completed:

• The need to reboot machines as soon as possible was stressed.
• fstab component enhancements to go on minor projects list.
• Services unit to progress the removal of AMD from servers wherever possible.
• Documentation is now available on creating separate LCFG branch for exam machines. This is to be incorporated in to the exam procedures.
• Wake-on key press included in devproj so action can be removed from here.
• Should now also be considering move from FH.

Report from Computing Executive Group

1. Pandemic planning

   The freeze on development work will continue to allow pandemic planning to continue.

3. Equipment ideas

   Neil suggested 'hot spare' machines to ensure that disruption to services that are being moved/upgraded/replaced are kept to a minimum.

4. LCFG Check reminders

   Alastair stressed the importance of reading and acting on these e-mails timeously.

     Everyone to try out the nut component using the new forum-server-room.h header.

  6. Cosign V3

     Another reminder to upgrade to Cosign V3! From 7th October, the version 2 flag will not be added by default but can still be added via resources although upgrading is the preferred route!

     Please continue to schedule server reboots as soon as possible.

• Research and Teaching.

  2. Teaching software

     The suggestion of setting a firm deadline for teaching software requests was discussed. IS enforce a deadline. We should consider cost/resource implications. Course material should not be changed until upgrade tested?

  2. PAE kernel

     Rather than having to specify this option, perhaps this should be the default.

FH machine room Concern over the lack of progress with fixing the air-conditioning at FH was raised. This will be chased as a matter of urgency.
