Ian explained that this will affect the lab on the ground floor and therefore we will need to arrange a convenient time for the work. This should be referred to Dave Hamilton.
Please move VMs off bakerloo. Chris will look in to removing 'spare' VMs from metropolitan.
When adding new packages please be aware that there is a new

As a result of the issues accessing JCMB over the Christmas break, a list of card numbers which previously had access has been sent to rectify the situation. If you are not sure if you are on the list and feel that you should be included, contact George.
Topics for discussion
Stephen explained that when changing any schema (e.g. adding resources), you should always bump up the schema version. This is particularly important when your change impacts on a large number of profiles. It makes reverting back to a previous version much simpler should the need arise. It doesn't matter how large the release number becomes! As a result of discussion, Stephen will document practical worked svn examples, to include branching.
Stephen will advertise details of a directory where scripts can be put (and run automatically) to perform validation checks on the testing release each week e.g. rogue files, permission changes etc.
This was discussed at length. In summary, it was agreed that:
AFS performance was mentioned and it was agreed that we should try afs 1.6 as soon as possible.
We should not be cancelling maintenance on old arrays while they could still potentially hold live data.
Tim will raise a bugzilla bug and Toby will look at it.
Everyone is to consider what should go in this procedure and pass their comments to George. So far, we have disable firewall holes, take dd image, re-install from scratch.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday 26th January in room 4.31 chaired by George.
