Report from Computing Executive Group
Alastair gave a verbal report on the latest CCPAG meeting, the highlights of which were:
Reports from units
Despite uncertainty over whether this was going ahead, it was suggested that we should test the proposed RADIUS set-up anyway since it might prove useful in the future.
It was agreed that setting CosignHttpOnlyCookies to On should be the default.
Alastair pointed out that we should be soliciting early adopters of SL7 from the user base. Tim noted that the Bash rpm has been build with the Informatics changes but has not as yet been deployed.
George observed that this meant that we would be able to start the decant of AT5 immediately after the 5th of May.
Topics for discussion
Neil commented that "This seems wrong to me. eg we computing staff have the roles "sysman" and "computing-staff" (as can be seen from the roles command), but as there is no rfe roles/computing-staff file then this ldapsearch -LLL -b ou=Capabilities,dc=inf,dc=ed,dc=ac,dc=uk cn=role/computing-staff returns an empty list. Where as with role/sysman you get a list of us." However, it was generally agreed that this was deliberate but would discuss with Toby.
Toby confirmed that this was indeed deliberate but there was no reason why corresponding empty rfe/roles could not be set up. He will do this. He will add documentation about how to queries roles on the Prometheus server
Alison will organise the computing staff talk.
There's no central mechanism, for adding new packages to SL7. Individuals should just go ahead and add any missing packages they come across.
The next meeting will be on 11th March 2015 at 10:00 in IF-4.31 chaired by George.
