Report from Computing Executive Group
Alastair gave a verbal report on the recent CSG meeting. The minutes of this meeting should be available shortly.
Alastair reminded the meeting that decisions taken in the cos chat room are not representative of the entire C(S)O body.
Reports from Units
Ian has reported the issues we have been having with ESISS to IS. Kerry Milestone is chasing things at their end.
There was a suggestion that these might be related to the way autofs handles home directories at the moment. This should be resolved within the next couple of weeks.
It was agreed that this posed potential security issues and that this facility should therefore be restricted to the School Office MFD which is under constant supervision.
Topics for discussion
After much discussion, it was agreed that a useful first step would be to hold a security audit and a good way to at least identify potential security issues would be to split into small groups (the groups from the innovation week were proposed as they already provide a good spread of Unit membership across groups) and spend a day identifying potential issues and then reporting back. This security day should be held before the end of the year. Alastair will organise.
The next meeting will be on 25th November 2015 at 10:00 in the Forum (4.31). Craig will convene.
