Neil will email to COs and then throw the switch. Apache will spot then-invalid configurations and so not try to restart using them.

Your scripts won't suddently stop working if you don't change to use the read-only server, but you won't be as robust as you might me. We can easily spin up new RO instances as required, but there can only be one master server.
This was another instance of the
"Crazy Console AKA Brown Effect".
It was odd that
sssd hadn't failed over. Presumably the machine
was alive enough that it didn't immediately respond with an error, but
not so much that it could reply correctly.
The legacy print queues are expected to be removed at the end of semester.

A discussion about explicit saving vs autosaving concluded that it should really be over to the course organisers to advise the students. There's too much diversity of stuff for us to be able to give sensible advice. Alex suggested that Learn might be a possible way to communicate advice.
