  1. Minutes of the last meeting

    These were approved.

  2. Actions and blog articles

    Actions discussed:

    Actions added or revived:

    Actions (re-)deferred:

  3. Report from Computing Executive Group

    1. Bayes
    2. Info security course

      This is mandatory.

    3. IS help desk visits
  4. Reports from Units

  5. Topics for discussion

    1. Chaperoned server / basement access

Over the years we have had cleaning staff and contractors working unsupervised in the Forum server room, which we have been reasonably happy with to date, and separate contractors to empty B.03 periodically. The latter group definitely do need to be supervised to ensure that they are interpreting their instructions in the way we expect.

The issue must arise elsewhere. George will ask Paul Hutton what happens in IS server rooms, such as the three AT basement rooms. Meanwhile, use common sense.

    2. Prioritization and resolution of Bugzilla entries

This prompted much discussion, covering inter alia

      • Bugzilla vs RT.
      • Reminders — per-ticket would be too much, but summary reminders every so often might be useful.
      • Different people and different Units have different work flows.
      • Some people treat bugzilla as a wish-list area, with RT for things which are broken and need fixed.
      • Some people check bugzilla when working on a component anyway, but noted that this might not happen frequently.
      • Suggestion: if something is a problem then add a (further) comment to the bugzilla ticket. That way everyone who is tracking it will see.
      • If nothing happens and it's still a real problem for you, escalate via the Unit heads.
  6. Items for the Computing Systems blog

There was a suggestion that something to say why we have the versions we do, and how to get hold of newer ones, might be useful. Take to CEG to discuss further and finger someone.

  7. AOCB

    1. GDPR

Q: is our Data Protection and Interception Statement on the computing.help site meant to be current and definitive, and something that can be linked to?

A: yes. (It is still in need of a GDPR overhaul though.)

    2. Personal web pages

Specifically, there was an RT ticket asking for contact details in an unmaintained personal web page to be updated. Craig will take the issue of unmaintained pages to the Web Strategy Group.

  8. Next meeting

The next meeting will be on Wednesday 23rd May in IF-4.31, at 10:00.
