For the student labs per se this might be overtaken by events. However it also applies to the exam preparation machines.
There are three MPU and nine RAT machines remaining. There are quite a few others requiring reboots to bring the latest kernel into use.
There was some discussion as to how and when to schedule the upgrade of the RT servers. There won't be any package conflicts. The issue is likely to be whether any perl changes cause breakage.
Actions added or revived:
All Units should deal with their old machines.
Alastair observed that with the current Brexit uncertainty we should hang on to old machines for now in case our suppliers find it difficult to honour their warranties. This led on to a discussion of B.03, which Nick is currently making an inventory of prior to disposal. Alison will discuss with him whether we should hang on to anything, and a list will be circulated.
The immediate action has been done. The question regarding how to do this retrospectively for existing kit remains.

Much discussion, including:
After a brief discussion as to how we might tell who is or is not a distance learner, we concluded that as a result of the way the courses are set up and the students assigned to them we don't really know. This started with
www.inf and then also encompassed
groups.inf. Anything accessible from outside needs to be
reviewed, and a change process put in place for it.
Neil will write a blog article.
These should be the same as last year.
Which CSO will be doing the weekly testing-release testing is in hand
These are still progressing, following the tripping of the new ATL3 power arrangements. Unfortunately the need to have even more root-partition space on the GPU desktops wasn't realised until too late.
