The minutes for 16th September were approved.
These two were discussed together. Alastair reckoned that IS's VPN documentation had been reworked, that it now makes clear that IPsec VPNs using built-in clients are restricted to one tunnel per remote address, and that this limitation wouldn't be changed. Users of the downloadable Forticlient aren't restricted in this way. We should note this in our own documentation, as appropriate, and then close these actions.

Alastair raised the question of whether the RDP servers should be accessible only via a VPN connection. There has been increased probing of this kind of service across the University sector as a whole, though it's not clear what kind of attacks are being performed. There was some useful discussion, including:
Tim observed that now would be a good time to move TheonUI and TheonPortal behind a VPN, now that most staff who need to use them already require a VPN tunnel for their other work.

In due course a blog article covering RDP and a VPN requirement would be useful.
Do we have too many meetings now? Could the Operational meeting revert to its former schedule? There were no strong feelings either way, though Neil did suggest that his own productivity had increased now that the schools are back.
