Dell's Console Redirection feature can be really useful. It's generally only available on rack-mountable servers. When it's enabled it redirects all the Dell boot messages to the serial console. This extends to being able to press a function key to enter Setup then changing BIOS settings - great when rebooting a geographically remote machine.
To enable it: reboot the machine and enter Setup to change the BIOS settings. You should see a section called Console Redirection. Set this to On. Set the baud rate to 9600. Set the Remote Terminal Type to ANSI. Set Redirection After Boot to Off. Exit, saving settings, and reboot.
